Equipment Used in Bowling

tim angeles asked:

Bowling is one of the most popular sports in the world. In bowling, players attempt to score the most points by rolling a ball along a flat surface in order to knock down objects called pins. There are several types of bowling games, but the official, and most popular, bowling game is ten-pin bowling.

There are several types of bowling but the most popular (and also the official) one is the ten-pin bowling. In this type, ten pins are set up at the end of a 60-foot lane. They are ten knocked down by a ball made usually of polyester or polyurethane. There are usually two players competing against each other in three sets, with each set having ten rounds.

In ten-pin bowling, players use a 16-pound, 8.5-inch diameter bowling ball to knock over ten pins at the end of a 60-foot long bowling lane. Usually, two players would compete against each other in three sets, with 10 rounds on each set.

Like most other popular leisure sports like golf or tennis, bowling also needs several equipment in order for you to play it properly. The equipment are usually inexpensive and should be affordable by normal or casual players, but the serious and ******** ones usually spend a large amount of money getting the best and the newest ones. For the casual players, though, all equipment can be rented at the bowling center.

Bowling players have the following equipment:

Bowling balls - A round ball made from rubber, urethane, plastic, reactive resin, or a combination of these materials. Ten-pin bowling balls have three drilled holes in them - one for the ring and middle finger, and one for the thumb.

Bowling bags - Carries and protects one or more bowling balls.

Bowling accessories - Non-slip grip cream, grip sacks, bowling ball maintenance tools, hand and wrist grip supports, towels, gloves, bowling ball cleaning equipment and supplies

Bowling shoes - Narrow shoes with a very smooth sole

Bowling clothes - Bowling games usually take place in air-conditioned bowling centers. Casual attire can be worn.

Compared to bowling players, bowling center operators have different bowling equipment. Their most important concern in a bowling center is the bowling alleys. A bowling alley has different parts and equipment that require operation and maintenance.

These are the equipment required in bowling alleys:

Bowling lane - A long plane where a bowling ball rolls towards the pins. Long wooden boards are joined together to form a 75-foot long and 3.5-foot wide lane. The wooden plane is very smooth. It requires maintenance by cleaning and polishing.

Bowling machine - A device that places and rearranges the pins.

Bowling ball retriever - A device that retrieves the ball after every shot, and returns it, via a tunnel, to the player at the other end of the alley.

Players’ area - At the end of the tunnel is a ball-sorting mechanism. A hand blow dryer may also be installed at the bowling ball sorter. A computer and display monitors show players the game points. The players would have seats and a table. A rack with extra bowling balls would usually be placed beside the seats.

Jay McMullan sings My Wife, My Friend My Lover

Progneto asked:

On February 12, 2007, two days before Valentine’s Day, an 18 year old Bosnian refugee went on a shooting rampage through Trolley Square, a shopping mall in Salt Lake City, tah. Four years prior to this, one of the victims, a young female, was married but her and her husband didn’t have enough money to buy their wedding rings. The husband called her and asked her to meet him at Trolley Square that night so they could buy their rings. She got to the mall before he did and was tragically killed. When the husband arrived at the scene, he was not allowed into the mall but asked to look at a newspaper photographer’s photos and that is where he saw photos of his wife lying dead in the mall. I wrote this song in honor of this couple and the others that lost their lives on that day. Song by Jay McMullan

Mens Tips - How to Buy Wedding Rings ?

Cayumi asked:

But you still want to go it alone, don’t you? Maybe because you want to surprise her with the engagement ring, or because you don’t want her to be involved with pricing and payment issues. That’s fine–if you put some thought into it you can buy an engagement ring that she’ll love almost as much as she loves you.

Number 1: Pay Attention!

Paying attention to her jewelry likes and dislikes is the first big step towards finding her the perfect engagement ring:

What metal color does she wear now? Most women have a definite preference. If she loves white gold or platinum, don’t even look at a diamond or other stone mounted in a yellow gold ring setting.

What style of jewelry does she wear now? Is it contemporary-looking, with bold styling? Does she prefer vintage looking rings? Or would you say that the jewelry she wears is classic, resembling those timeless pieces that never go out of style?

The best indication of her tastes is the jewelry she wears all the time, not items she only wears occasionally, because it’s the full-timers that she’s most comfortable with.

Number 2: Has She Hinted at her Likes and Dislikes?

Has she ever mentioned her favorite jewelry styles or pointed out engagement rings when you’re shopping together? If not, take her shopping. It isn’t difficult to steer yourselves towards the jewelry stores. If you want to be subtle, say you’re looking for a new watch, but be sure to pause at the engagement ring counters.

Maybe she has a friend who recently became engaged. Does she like her friend’s engagement ring? Why or why not?

Does she like diamonds? Some women don’t. Sapphires and rubies are both durable gemstones that are often set into engagement rings for women who don’t like to wear diamonds.

Number 3: What Looks Best on Her Hands?

An elongated diamond, such as a marquise or oval, can make short fingers look more sleek–but be careful not to overdo the look or it could have the opposite effect.

Wide bands usually make fingers appear even shorter than they are, so think proportional:

Women with long fingers can easily wear bold ring styles.

A setting that’s extremely delicate could get lost on large hands, over-emphasizing their size and making the ring look smaller.

Number 4: Choose the Right Shape & Setting

Round diamonds are the number one shape chosen by brides, but maybe not your bride. She might prefer an elongated marquise, oval or pear-shaped stone, or an square or emerald cut diamond. Fancier shapes, such as hearts, are another option.

Do you think she’d like a solitaire diamond, set alone in a band, or would she prefer a cluster of stones? Her current jewelry can give you clues about her preferences.

Number 5: Consider her Lifestyle

How will the ring fit in with her lifestyle? Does she work in a profession where fussy jewelry would look out of place? Even if she doesn’t, remember that a pointed gem with high prongs could snag clothing (and people) and is harder to keep clean. Save that type of ring for gifts that will be worn on special occasions, not every day.

Number 6: What’s her Ring Size?

Does she have rings that she wears on her engagement finger? Maybe a friend or family member could get hold of one of them long enough for you to have it sized. Of course, you’ll have to swear the messenger to secrecy.

Number 7: Consider a Loose Diamond

If you think you know which shape she loves, buy a loose diamond to show her when you ask the big question. The two of you can shop together later for the perfect engagement ring setting.

Now that you have a better feel for the style of ring she might prefer, it’s time to consider the diamonds that will go into it. Start with the Four C’s, then take some time to browse other topics in Diamond Basics and Engagement Ring Resources. If she’s not into diamonds, start with the articles in Colored Gemstones.

Wedding Rings Need Insurance Too

Leaftech asked:

Your wedding ring is more than just the one piece of jewelry that you wear all the time. It’s a symbol of the love and commitment that exists between you and your partner. It may also be a family heirloom, or, together with your engagement ring, it may represent a sizeable financial investment. In any case, if it was to be stolen from your home, the loss would be devastating. This is why you should consider adding coverage for it to your insurance package.

Homeowners Insurance Doesn’t Cover It.

While your renters or homeowners insurance policy may cover your ring if it is stolen, there is no coverage if it is lost, but you should read your policy, because it may have a coverage limit for certain kinds of personal property, including jewelry, china, and art. If the limit is less than the value of your ring, or if you want to make sure you have coverage in case of loss, you have two options: a floater, or a stand-alone policy.

Stand-alone policies are insurance that is specifically intended to cover valuable possessions. It can be purchased from your homeowner’s insurance company, but you may have to pay a separate premium.

A floater is additional coverage that is appended to your existing policy, and designated for a special piece of personal property. It gives your insurer the option of either giving you cash up to the appraised value of your ring, or replacing the ring outright. Most insurance companies choose the latter.

Whether you select a floater or a stand-alone policy, you’ll be required to have your wedding ring appraised, and provide a certified copy of the appraisal to your insurance company. You may have to take your ring to a jewelry store for the appraisal, but you may be able to find an appraiser who will come to you as well. If so, this would be an excellent time to have any other valuable possessions like crystal, silver or china appraised as well, so that you know if you need to increase coverage on any of those items, also.

Be Pro-Active

Increasing your homeowners insurance coverage, or adding a floater, to protect your wedding ring is helpful if it is lost or stolen, but the best insurance is not to lose it in the first place. Here are some ways to minimize the likelihood of losing your wedding ring:

Be aware of your ring when you are swimming, and be careful that it doesn’t slip off your finger, especially if your hands are greasy from sun-block or tanning oil.

Wear gloves when you’re doing household chores, so that cleaning materials which contain harsh chemicals don’t come into contact with the metal or stone, and damage your ring.

If you take off your jewelry to wash your hands, be sure to put it back on before you leave, and use extreme caution so that you don’t knock it into the sink or drain.

When you do remove your ring (or any jewelry) at the end of the day, always leave it in the same place so that you know exactly where to find it.

Every so often, have a jeweler clean your ring, and check it for loose prongs or worn mountings.

Losing your wedding ring, or having it stolen, can be extremely upsetting, but if you have adequate insurance coverage, at least there won’t be a financial loss as well.

Colorfuldreams asked:

i sometimes have the weirdest dreams… and they all come in groups of three, such as going on an adventure with the hobbits on little individual boats and trading them in because there was a storm coming. they wanted glass boats that looked colorful and handblown. i was the only one who took my wooden boat, and all theirs shattered. we went back to the harbor and a woman turned my hair into fiber optics. then a little girl told her mom to look at my hair. that was the end. i dont even like lord of the rings….and when i was 6, i had dreams of people trying to kill me or hurt me in various ways. i think one of my nightmares involved a wind sock. to this day at almost 17 i have a phobia of windmills. why???

Any suggestions to help me Lord of the Rings-ify my bedroom?

AC heart asked:

I was leaning toward an Edoras theme, the Horse Lords and all that, but after looking at some stills from the movie, I would also like to see my room become Rivendell.
Though I have the ideas in my head, I need help to actually make it a reality. What color would the walls be, what about furniture, should I stain my wood floors?

Any suggestions?

Wedding Ring Advice

anonymous asked:

So, you’ve found that special person, your soul-mate, your other half. You both know it, but you want an outward sign to let the rest of the world know about your commitment. A ring has always been the accepted way. A token of your love, a constant reminder of the bond between you, and a sign to others that you are “taken”.

Although traditionally a plain gold band, the wedding ring now comes in a huge variety of materials and styles.

Gold and platinum are the traditional metals for wedding rings, but you will also find rings made from, silver, titanium and stainless steel. Each metal has it’s advantages and disadvantages. A good independent jeweller will be happy to advise you on their relative merits.

In addition to it’s symbolism, these days the ring is also a reflection of your personal style. Whether you have a clear idea of the ring you want or you are just hoping to stumble across a ring that will appeal to you, you may not find what you are looking for in a High-Street jewellers. You might like to consider having a ring designed and made just for you. A jewellery designer can create a unique ring to your individual specifications. You can supply a finished design for the jeweller to work from, or ask him or her to come up with some ideas for you to consider.

When choosing your ring, look for a design you will be happy to live with for the rest of your life, and don’t forget to make sure you go for something that is durable enough to stand up to a lifetime of wear and tear.

Beyond that, just have fun looking. Try on lots of different rings. The style you have always imagined you would go for, could look completely wrong on your finger. When you find your perfect ring you will just know it.

An interesting video i made concerning wedding rings. Is it Pagan? I believe it is. And i will not practice it. I say in the video “we are not to practice this”. I didnt mean if you do have a wedding ring that your in trouble or anything. If you want one so bad then fine. Whatever floats your boat. But God did not say anything about a wedding ring, and it is a man made tradition, so therefore i will not wear one. Just my personal choice! What do you think?
