On the second floor of my house, picture a U-shaped area in the master bath… there’s a fiberglass tub/shower on the left, a toilet on the back wall and an exterior wall on the right hand side. There are water marks on the wooden baseboards on the right hand side (of the exterior wall). The distance from the tub is just a couple of feet (just enough room to allow for the toilet).
There doesn’t seem to be any water damage on the baseboard trim behind the toilet but the vinyl flooring is pulling up and away from the baseboards on all three sides. I recently replaced the toilet and I’ve checked the inlets and the tank where it’s attached to the bowl; there’s no leaking there.
Did I make a mistake when I placed the toilet on the wax ring, maybe? Could it be excess water from the shower, splashing over the side of the tub and leeching it’s way across the space? Except for the edges where the vinyl is pulling up, the rest of the floor is really tight and secure. What’s going wrong?

i just got my hands on a very old solid wood desk. it was very dirty; it had years worth of papers and mice left overs stuck to it. i brushed it clean with a solution of Murphy’s oil and water. now that it is clean i can see that it has some stains, discoloration, white rings, and some sides of the legs are scraped clean of paint. it also has many scratches.
I would like to refinish it without taking away the “antiqueness” of it and without reducing its value.
is “Restore-a-Finish” a good choice of product for this project?

In a rush this morning I was emptying my car from the night before and set our Windex bottle on the wood stairs. 12 hours later I discovered the bottle had leaked, and there is now a “ring” on the stairs. It almost looks discolored on part of it, that may be from the blue of the Windex.

It definitley is the color of the windex, as I checked it this morning. It now looks pretty dry. The windex actually took some of the finish off. I think we’re going to have to sand/stain/seal again. But thanks for all the input! Not a fun discovery to make and such a horrible mistake … especially when we’ve only owned the house for 2.5 months!
