Vacuum seals on wood?

I’m currently making some research on wood exposed at medium to high degrees of vacuum (let’s say 10^-3 mbar or little more)
I need to design a good gasket (in elastomer, like O-rings, I think) to seal a wood surface on a side of the vacuum chamber. I ask for some literature on the argument, please (maybe articles or books on the design of gaskets and seals like O-rings)

  1. I can’t point out any books etc on the subject.

I have use vacuum chucking many times in my trade as a cabinet and furniture maker. I do this by making the mould and then hollowing out a portion I then put an Oring seal in a groove and a switch if the surface area of the vacuum part is large I will seal the hollowed out portion with epoxy. As the wood bleeds air.

I have also used this in boat building to hold jigs and things in place. There are books written on the subject. Try google on vacuum chucks. I have learnt how to use these by trial and error.

I hope that this will give you a start on somewhere to look
