How to remove a white hazy ring on my wooden coffee table. Help?

Macross M asked:

I had a hot bowl of soup which I want to place on my coffee table. As i fear that the heat will damage the surface, I placed a moist piece of cloth on the table and then the hot bowl of soup over it. After I removed the items, to my horror, there was a white hazy ring on it. What could have caused it? Is this what they call a water spot? Was it caused by the heat from the bowl, or something from the cloth, or both? And most important, how do I remove the white ring? Appreciate anyone could help. The favour would be returned.

  1. repeatedly make rings everywhere. make it look like it was supposed to be like that then you’ll get compliments on your exquisite taste in furniture

  2. I think that you will have to sand and re-stain your coffee table to get it back to where it was.

  9. It was caused by the moist cloth, anytime you leave anything wet on a wood surface, it will do this. Use some furniture oil. The ring should fade over time.
